Sunset- Is the perfect name for this piece, I really enjoy changing up materials but using the same techniques to create a piece that is completely different in style. It just excites me and I find it fascinating how that can happen. the difference in my raffia pieces such as this one compared to my pine needle pieces is the way I manipulate the material while still using the coiled and stitched technique that is used in every piece regardless if I’m using pine needles or raffia. The peachy color in this piece is another reminder of the days that my husband I have experienced on our day trips to the beach. I just love the color of the sun when it is setting and that’s exactly why this piece was named “Sunset” with the palm inflorescent trim that we see in the palm trees is just a bonus touch to this piece. I can just smell the salty air and the warm breeze of the wind while sitting on my blanket and soaking the last bit of sun rays before it sets.
