Sunrise - I named this piece after a trip to St. Simmons Island where my husband and I got to witness some of the most beautiful sunrises! The color of the water, sky and the sun coming up on the ocean’s horizon was breath taking hence the colors that I chose for this piece. The palm inflorescence that I used for the outer trim reminds me of all the palm trees that surrounded the area. The centerpiece is an actual seashell that I found while walking the beach there and has the same color golden yellow stripes that matches perfectly with the golden yellow raffia used in the piece but most of all it reminds me of the sun’s rays as it was rising. when I saw it, I just knew it would be perfect to use as the centerpiece of this sculpture.
